Producer - Vigango: The Vanishing Totems

Mumo Liku is a multi-disciplinary trained director, producer and curator. A graduate of communication from Daystar University and one among the 35 students selected to receive the Chevening scholarship in Kenya for the 2019-20 cohort. This opportunity gave him the chance to study an MA in Creative Enterprise at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. He has worked in the Kenya film industry for the last 6 years as a film and television producer where he worked on award winning projects such as; Indulge Me, a short film that won the Inaugural Machafest competition; Career Talk, a television show nominated at Kalasha International Film Festival.

Kongo is Burning

In 2019, he was selected as a producer in Durban Filmmart with a documentary feature, Kongo Is Burning;  a contemporary and celebratory tale of the fashion, disco balls, and the everyday hustle of life in Bukavu, a city in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which won development funds from HotDocs and Afridoc.

He was also selected as a producer for the 2022 Durban Filmmart with Kange; A feature documentary following a father who takes her millennial digitally addicted daughter on a spiritual journey to learn about the disappearing way of life through the ancient games played by children in his home village. 

Hervé Masson, homme multiple

En 2021, il entame le tournage du documentaire ;“Hervé Masson, homme multiple”, premier volet
d’Homo Mauricianus, une série de grands documentaires consacrée aux grands hommes et femmes de
l’île Maurice. Pendant cette même année, il réalise 4 mini documentaires sur la pêche artisanale à
Maurice dans une série intitulé : “ Autour de la mer”.

ACP DOConnect

ACP DOConnect is a program that is made possible in partnership with L’Organisation International de la Francophonie (OIF) and ACP – EU; with the key aim of increasing South-South Co-production.

The 9 documentary producers together with the co-producers will be engaged in comprehensive one-on-one mentorship sessions which will be complemented with participation in film labs and markets.

Becoming Omer Khairy

Alyaa Musa is a Khartoum based producer/director. She studied Filmmaking at London Film School, 2012 and has an MA with distinction in Cinematography and Post production from the University of Greenwich, 2014. She co-founded Black Balance Artistic Production company in 2016 to support authentic storytellers from Sudan and Africa.  Alyaa has major creative credits in over ten short fiction, documentary and experimental films that screened internationally. She is currently working on her first debut grant winning documentary essay ‘Becoming Omer Khairy’, co-writing and producing ‘The Camera Never Cries’ creative documentary in production and co-producing ‘The New Man’ feature documentary, in post production, with Cape Verde. Alyaa is a graduate of EAVE producers workshop 2021.

Madame Agnesse

Wendy Desert est réalisatrice, photographe et productrice haïtienne. Elle réalise des courts métrages qui ont été projetés dans divers festivals et événements tant en Haïti qu’à l’international. Depuis tantôt 3 ans, elle s’adonne à la production. 

Wendy réalise également des vidéo-clips et des séries photographiques. Sa dernière série d’autoportraits a reçu le prix du Fond pour la Photographie Emergente en Haïti en 2022, a remporté le premier prix du concours d‘autoportraits de la Fondation Connaissance et Liberté (FOKAL) en 2020 et est publiée dans le 4e numéro de la Revue Des Cultures Créoles Do.Kre.I.S. 

De 2015 à 2020, elle a travaillé au sein de la prestigieuse institution «Le Centre d’Art de Port-au-Prince» en tant que responsable de communication et de production audiovisuelle. 

Parallèllement à son activité artistique, elle fonde l’association SineNouvèl et dirige depuis 6 ans le festival international du film « Nouvelles Vues Haïti ». Elle co-fonde L’autre Regard Films Productions qui se donne pour mission d’accompagner les cinéastes émergent.e.s haïtien.n.e.s et les jeunes pousses, ayant une démarche singulière et ambitieuse, dans la réalisation de leurs films. 

In Transit

Spécialisée en réalisation documentaire de création et en Communication Pour le Développement (CPD), Mamounata Nikièma mène de front sa carrière de réalisatrice (depuis 2007) et celle de productrice au sein de Pilumpiku Produdction depuis 2011. En tant que productrice elle a son actif plusieurs courts métrages (fictions et documentaires) et longs métrages documentaires sélectionnés à des festivals internationaux et certains primés.  

Promotrice  de l’évènementiel  Galerie Ciné-équipement et  de la plateforme digitale sur le cinéma Sulunsuku, www.sulunsuku.com ; Mamounata NIKIEMA a été décorée du titre de Chevalier de l’Ordre de Mérite, des Arts, des Lettres et de la Communication avec Agrafe ‘’Cinématograpghie’’ lors du Fespaco 2021.

Echo Nomade

Intagrist el Ansari est natif de la région de Tombouctou, au Mali. Il réside en
Mauritanie, depuis une dizaine d’années. Réalisateur de documentaires, il est
également écrivain et auteur indépendant. Intagrist passe son enfance au désert,
puis, dans les péripéties du conflit du Nord-Mali des années 90, à 15 ans, il ira
séjourner en France pendant plus de dix ans. En 2014, il publie «Echo Saharien,
l’inconsolable nostalgie», son premier roman. Puis, participe à de nombreux projets
collectifs et éditoriaux. Son dernier livre « Touaregs – L’exil pour patrie » est publié
aux éditions Alfabarre (Paris). Comme dans ses textes littéraires et/ou
journalistiques , son travail de documentariste s’intéresse en particulier aux
cultures nomades sahariennes, à leur Histoire et mutations.

Buffalo King

Lara Sousa is a director and producer, founder of Kulunga Filmes, a production company whose main objective is to produce films (documentary and fiction) by emerging filmmakers from Portuguese speaking African countries and countries in the southern region of Africa. As a producer, Sousa is interested in innovative content, associating with filmmakers whose proposals focus on themes such as collective memory, cultural heritage, colonization and decolonization processes.

She currently produces documentaries such as: “The Ship and the Sea” (selected to DocStation Belinale 2020; and funded by Sundance Documentary Programme 2021); “We, People of the Islands” (selected to DFM 2021, and funded by HDBIF 2021); “Buffalo King” (selected to VdR Development Lab 2022) 

Lara is a fellow of Digital Lab Africa, and a Creative Producers Indaba Fellow; and was selected as a DET for the Netflix Africa Screenwriters Lab 2021.

Sousa works as training coordinator for the MiradasDoc Market and Documentary Festival in Tenerife – Spain.

The short films she produced and made won several awards and were shown at various festivals.
